Students may enroll anytime during school hours. You must be 16 years of age to enroll.

Dress code

  • All students are required to wear a smock and one identification tag included in the student kit.
  • Students shall maintain a professional appearance at all times. No sweats or pajama pants.
  • No torn clothing allowed.

Academy rules

  • Students must obey rules of personal hygiene, sterilization, and sanitation. Washing hands before and after each service is a must.
  • Each student is responsible for cleaning up their station after every service. This includes wiping down shampoo bowls, sweeping up all hair, and cleaning dirty combs and brushes.
  • Visitors are not allowed during school hours.
  • Students caught cheating or stealing will be suspended or expelled at the academy's discretion. The academy is not responsible for lost or stolen articles. 
  • Cellular phones must be off during theory, demonstrations, and while on the cutting floor.
  • Possession of alcohol, drugs, weapons, or any unlawful substance will result in immediate expulsion.
  • No smoking will be allowed on school property.
  • The student break room is to be kept clean at all times. Drinks and food are to be kept in break room only, and should be put away after breaks and lunch. You are responsible for your own mess!
  • Students should respect all clients, instructors, and other students at all times.
  • Personal problems or school conflicts are not to be discussed amongst clients or students. Please feel free to discuss any school issues with the director.
  • No talking during theory or demonstrations. If you're working on the clinic floor, please use a quiet tone of voice. Conversations should be between you and your customer.
  • Instructor must be present round the clock. Students must clock in and out on a time card to receive hours. Students must clock out if leaving the building for any reason. No writing on timecards.
  • No parking on the square.                                         
  • No working on yourself on the clinic floor.
  • You must bring your equipment every day.

Attendance

  • Students must attend all classes as scheduled. Additional hours are available with approval.
  • Deficit hours must be paid by the 15th of the next month.
  • Full time students are permitted one 30 minute lunch break, one AM and one PM 10 to 15-minute break. All students must clock-out for lunch. Part-time students are allowed to take one 10 to 15-minute break.
  • Upon arriving, each student shall sign in and punch their time cards. Students leaving need to punch out their time cards.
  • Permission is needed for late arrival and early dismissal. If you're running late, please notify the school at 765-482-9500.
  • Students with more than 14 days of unexcused absences will be dropped from the program.
  • Vacation and personal time off must be approved by the director.
  • The school will grant only one leave of absence of no more than 180 days. After 180 days the student will be withdrawn from our enrollment and must re-enroll if they decide to complete the program. Written notice must be given to Freestyle Academy For Hair prior to leave of absence. All scheduled payments remain in effect.

Hours

Part-time 7:30 AM - 11:30 PM Monday to Friday   

(Part-time must attend at least 20 hours weekly)

 

Holiday closings

  • Memorial Day 
  • Summer break 1 to 2 weeks
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving weekend
  • 1-2 weeks between Christmas Eve and New Year's

Graduation requirements

  • All cosmetology students must complete 1,500 hours. All student instructors must complete 1,000 hours. All progress and tests must be completed with a grade of 80% or higher. The written and practical final tests are to be passed with a 75% grade or higher, and must be taken before 1,500 hours are completed. Students are responsible for requesting make-up tests.                   
  • All tuition and overage charges must be paid in full.                     
  • Final exams will be scheduled. Students who do not show up for their scheduled final exam time will have to pay a fee of $100 to reschedule.
  • Students are responsible for paying testing and license fees.
  • Once your 1500 hours has been reached, Freestyle Academy For Hair is no longer liable for further education.

Payment options

  • Students paying is in full.
  • Students financed through the Academy pay an additional $500 handling fee. The student is required to pay $1,600 down payment and a monthly payment on the remaining balance. Payments will remain intact for any leave of absence, or if student drops out, or is dropped from the program for any reason. Total cost includes enrollment fee, handling fee, books, supplies, and student kit.
  • Students who need additional hours are required to pay $250 per week.

Refund policy

  • Enrollment, books, and kit fees are nonrefundable.
  • Students are entitled to a full tuition refund within 3 business days of the signed contract.
  • Any student wishing to terminate the contract within 30 days or less from the signed date may receive a 50% refund on tuition fee.
  • After 30 days of signing the contract, there will be no refund.
  • Refunds are returned to students in monthly installments.

Termination of contract

  • Students not complying with enrollment, dress, attendance, or academy rules will be subject to termination.
  • Students refusing to complete the curriculum required by the State of Indiana will be subject to termination.
  • Students financed though the Academy are subject to termination if there's a delay of more than 15 days on the monthly payment.

Re-enrollment

There will be a $100 fee for students needing to re-submit a new contract.

Attorney fee clause

  • All reasonable legal fees and expenses are to be paid by the student if he or she breaks the contract.
  • All terms are contained in the contract. No outside terms or representation allowed unless it's available in writing.
